Suit - Inktober Day Two, 2021

He was eager to collect the suit, as his friend's wedding date was closing in and the whole friend group was to fly to the destination in three days. As he was walking to the shop, he saw someone jogging in a wedding suit. Why would anyone jog in that? He thought to himself.

As he entered the shop, the tailor's eyes immediately gleamed with joy. He went inside and brought a folded piece of clothing. It looked a bit odd, and even without unfolding it, he realised it wasn't the suit he ordered.

Why are you smiling at me with that in your hand?

This is for you. The suit you deserve.

He took it and unfurled it, hoping it would be a nice suit. To his surprise, it was something that looked like a superhero costume. He was confused. How did the tailor know of his secret?

Why are you giving me this? I asked for a nice formal suit.

This is for the time you saved our shop.

How did he know? There was nobody nearby when he saved his shop, except the two unconscious people that he saved.

What?

Don't pretend that you don't understand. Please accept this from me, wear this whenever necessary. Tailor winked.

Uh... okay. But how do you know?

Well, I was the one under the rubble who you thought was unconscious. I didn't want to be killed by those people, so I pretended to be unconscious.

Wow.

Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Now, will you take this suit?

I mean... I will accept it as a gift, I won't pay for this. And I still need the suit I ordered.

Of course. This one is on the house. Just for you.

That day he felt appreciated like he never did before. He saved so many people without them realising who was helping them. But there was this guy who knew and just wanted to show gratitude, and it does feel nice. But he never wanted attention or publicity for his acts of kindness. Okay, maybe sometimes he craved. Did the tailor also know of the ongoing attempts or did he hope he kept doing such deeds? We might never find out.

Whatever the reason, this moment solidified the fact that he will wear the suit even if it doesn't look marvelous. He now has his own suit to jog in, a suit that's definitely tailor made for not just jogging but also running. Or so he hoped. He has yet to test it.
