Doctor was set on taking revenge. But not by harming them. Just scaring them a little will do the trick. Maybe multiple little scary moments followed by a conversation they can't escape. Along with the truth he seeks. It's debatable. Well, not by the One. Ancient One was adamant about Doctor following the temporary ban from using his powers. According to him, he wasn't in the wrong. But the final decision by a Masters of the Mystic Arts committee was to be honoured. It was specifically set up to give verdict on Strange's behaviour.

While he was supposed to be following this, he saw through lot of simulations in his mind, the old fashioned way of course, just by thinking, without involving magic. He narrowed to few possible scenarios as to why he was 'targeted', as he likes to call it.

The Ancient One was not convinced. She was not ready to believe that the committee would be conspiring against Strange. Also, she knew that if he violated the ban, he will be remove as Sorcerer Supreme. At least temporarily, as there's no other eligible sorcerer strong enough to lead the safeguarding of Earth.

Somehow he made her see the possibility where he would be right. So, she agreed to help him. All she has to do is punch him to Astral plane as she did in their first encounter. Once in Astral form, he'll be able to investigate the truth, which is exactly what the committee wanted to avoid and gave the verdict so quickly.

As soon as she helped him, the Committee members appeared out of nowhere and seized the physical body of Strange, and asked the Ancient One to stay out of this. Astral Doctor was floating above everyone. He saw this coming as soon as he went Astral. They tried capturing his Spirit, but he gave them tough time.

Finally they somehow got him, but only to open their eyes in some beds arranged in the Mirror dimension. They were caught in the illusion set by Strange from the beginning. And accidentally revealed what he wanted to know. They were indeed spying on the Ancient One to steal the forbidden secrets. He threw a smirk towards the Ancient One, only to feel a vague sensation of being pulled away... he opened his eyes on the chair in front of her.

She was testing his loyalty towards protecting the Earth, especially after she saw him secretly reading the Dark Spirits: Control Human Spirit.

Ironically, that's what they all were doing.
