Open - Inktober Day Twenty Two, 2021
He was walking towards this entrance in the ground while not knowing what lies beneath it. There was some buzzing and weird sounds coming from the burrow. But that didn't scare him, it was rather comforting, as it was better than the deafening silence in the forest.
He heard stories of the forest and how deadly it can be, especially for an unprepared, solo, human. He was expecting to face dangers, but meeting no danger while waiting for it was a much worse experience. The fog didn't help either, he couldn't see past few trees and yet he was willing to go towards the sound. The expectation of relief while not getting it was unbearable. The sweat dripping from forehead was clouding the eyes, the scalp helped the hair take a bath while the body was drenching the clothes.
It was not just uncomfortable, it was unbelievable. How did this dreadful moment come to be? In the middle of somewhere familiar yet unknown, he kept walking towards the sound. One shouldn't open up to strangers so easily, he thought to himself. No wonder he was easily fooled by a thief who stole his motorbike and left him stranded in a forest. The thief stole the bike and everything else too, and left him unconscious inside the forest. Now he didn't have any way to contact others and he didn't know where to go. When he heard the sound coming from straight ahead, he just walked towards it hoping it would be humans camping.
When he could see this door in the ground, he was creeped out. He was not sure if he wanted to find out what's under it. But he kept walking. There was no going back.
As he was getting closer to the lid, the sound was slowly growing louder. He saw two rings on either side of the lid to pull it out. He grabbed them and with great difficulty, pushed the lid aside. There was bright light illuminating his face, blinding him for a second, and then he saw what was inside. He couldn't believe that it was still blurry. He tried rubbing his eyes and looking at it, but couldn't understand what it was.
Then he suddenly started running as he saw the thing move inside. He felt it might harm him and he ran without looking back. As he was running he realized the sound was growing louder and louder and he felt he was being chased by this monster or whatever it was, and it was getting closer. He didn't want to look back and kept running, suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder, he looked back and everything blacked out for a second. He opened his eyes and didn't understand what was happening.
He was at his home, sleeping. It was all just a dream.
